There are many reasons why someone may want to change careers. Whether it be you're looking for a new challenge, you've been out of the workforce for a while and are looking for a fresh start or you're just not enjoying what you do any more. It's important to remember it's never too late to change careers. If the following points sound like you then a career change may be what you need.
Going to work has started feeling more like a chore. You're tried and unmotivated. The simplest of duties have started to feel like a mountain. You no longer feel challenged. When you no longer have that spark and passion its a disservice to yourself and to your employer. You no longer give your all and they no longer get your best. If you have reached this point a change in career may re-light that spark that you've been missing.
Whether it be that you feel your salary is not enough for the skills you have and the work you're doing or the salary is good but it's no longer enough to be the only thing keeping you there. Sometimes money is not worth your happiness. It's important to enjoy your job as well as make enough to sustain your life. If you feel like it's no longer enough then get out there and pursue something that fulfills you in both areas
Day in and day out you do the same thing, the same routine. You don't feel challenged. You're working hard but feel like you have so much more to give. Your work feels too routine. When you get into a rut its hard to enjoy what you are doing. If your work isn't challenging enough and you feel you are not at your full potential then a change in career to a job that allows you to showcase what you are capable of may be just what you need.
The same people are doing the same job year after year, no one is ever promoted. You feel stuck in the same position with no hope of moving up, the opportunity is just not there. Movement and progression is an important part of a career path. If you feel stuck and stagnant in what you are doing, then a fresh start may be just what you need.
You no longer enjoy what you do. The passion and drive is gone. Motivating yourself to do what is needed is a challenge. Having passion in what we do is so important. Working is apart of life of a long while, if you don't enjoy it then you'll feel miserable and be full of regret. Find something you can see yourself doing for a long time, happiness and work can go hand in hand.
